Hello everyone! I am so happy that you found this. I’ve always loved reading blogs of others and seeing how their thoughts, passions, and talents are impacting the world, today. So here I am now, writing about some of my greatest passions- to help everyone see that they matter and recognize the importance of physical and mental health to everyone of all ages. There are many reasons why regular activity boosts your health, and that is what this blog is here to share with you all.

But first, I want to share with you all a little more about myself!
My name is Holly Somerhalder. I was born in Omaha, Nebraska but moved to Shawnee, KS when I was 7 years old. Both of my parents went to school in Nebraska, so I grew up LOVING the Huskers. Yes- even though my house is surrounded by KU and K-State flags, we still put up Lil’ Red every time the Huskers play. But man oh man do I also love the Chiefs- can you tell I enjoy watching football?

I went to high school at St. James Academy and am currently a senior at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. In May, I will graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science (specializing in General Health Care) and a minor in Teaching Physical Education and Health!
I am the oldest of 4 and family means the world to me! I’ve always loved playing sports at school and for fun, especially volleyball and basketball. If I’m not shooting hoops at the gym, you can find me playing the piano or ukulele, drawing, making up silly dances, singing karaoke with friends, creating videos, or watching the Harry Potter movies.

I am very much an extrovert and LOVE getting to know people. I was born and raised Catholic, so I thank God first for everything that I am and all that I have. My dream is to continue to work with children and help them see the importance of fun, fitness, and nutrition at such a young age. I became a Certified Youth Fitness Instructor this past summer and have had the opportunity to shadow various Physical Education and Health Teachers throughout my time here at college.
This semester, I am an intern at K-State Research and Extension- Atchison County. My job is to help promote the health program, Walk Kansas, as well as research and share with others about different healthy lifestyles around the world.
And now it is time to share my health findings and thoughts with you.
I hope you enjoy!
